(An explanation on why I started writing and how seriously I take it)
ACADEMY NEBULA
It isn’t set in stone. I just needed a title for it for one of my choice pieces that I’m submitting for my Writer’s Craft class on Wednesday and this was the first thing that came to mind.
It MIGHT stay, but you never know. My mind is always changing!
For most of tonight and tomorrow, I’m going to be crafting a synopsis of sorts for Academy Nebula to be revealed FOR ALL TO SEE on Wednesday.

Chapter One - Where’s Kylie?
NAT
There was the faint sound of the phone ringing from somewhere on the other side of the room, but before I even started moving toward it, the ringing stopped.
I was about to go back to what I had been doing, when my brother Micah yelled up the stairs. “Nat, phone’s for you!”
I yelled back, “Just a second!” at the top of my lungs so as to make myself heard and rummaged through the mess that was my room for the cordless phone. Where is that damn thing? I was in the midst of cleaning my room, so everything was everywhere and there was hardly a visible piece of floor. Who knows what I was stepping on?
Finding the phone—wedged under a tee pee of books on my desk—I picked it up, expecting to hear Kylie’s voice on the other end.
“Hey,” I said into the receiver. “What’s up? Where have you been all day?”
I walked over and around the mounds of clothes on the floor and back to my bed, which was just visible under some more clothes, books and other unidentifiable objects.
Today, and the week to come, are special. You wanna know why??
This is the week the majority of UNEXPECTED, my finished, unpublished novel, takes place!!
I didn’t purposefully set this story in 2012. It just sort of happened. And now that it is happening, well, I gotta do something to celebrate, right??
So, here’s my proposition: Every day this week (I hope), I will post on here something that pertains to UNEXPECTED, whether it be a sentence, a paragraph, a scene, a chapter, a drawing, a photo of inspiration, a small tidbit like I did last year—it could be anything! Maybe I can even get my sister to paint/draw up a cover. Either way, this story spans over SEVEN days—today until Friday 25—so I’ll have lots of opportunities to show you stuff.
The first of the story’s events actually happened on September 19th, but that’s just a prologue of sorts. The actually story began today at 5 PM Central Time (2 hours and 30 mins ago) in a fictitious town in Manitoba, Canada. And seeing as what happens isn’t really a spoiler (at least to anyone who has read the synopsis) I’m going to tell you. And you know how I’m going to tell you? I’m going to post the FIRST SCENE (after prologue, that is)!
Look for it in the next post…

This is because, starting Saturday and ending next Saturday, is the exact time most of my (not published but finished) novel, Unexpected, Book #1 takes place.
Maybe I should do something special. Well, I was already going to, but I mean something REALLY special like a drawing as well as an excerpt from the book. Not sure what I would draw though… :\

I find that, when writing bios, it’s really helpful to look at a list or a chart like the one above. Picking two or three traits from each chart and building a character based around them will give you a really interesting bio, because they will serve as a reminder that characters need depth and dimension.
